On 26th June, following the award ceremony by her Majesty The Queen in Buckingham Palace on the 25th June, three of the winners, Bob Kahn, Vint Cerf and Louis Pouzin took part in a special schools’ event at Siemens’ building, ‘The Crystal’ in Newham.  Approximately 220

students from London schools including 40 Year 7 students from St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School and (via Google Hangout) in Swaziland and Bangalore, joined a discussion with the QEPrize winners, hosted by TeenTech CEO Maggie Philbin. )

The three winners were invited onto the podium to talk about how they invented the internet and to answer the selected questions posed by the students, including those from the Google Hangout.  Margaret (7 Yellow) was lucky enough to ask the winners a question for the school. The students really enjoyed themselves and found it to be inspirational to help them consider a career in computer science.
