Netballers challenged in the Southwark league

At this late stage in the netballing season SSSO’s netball teams are usually all on top of their respective leagues and look set to be victorious in all divisions. This year however the standard of competition in the leagues has been much higher than in previous years, this is great news for the sport of Netball but means we will have to work even harder to take the trophies this year. Our Year 9 & 10/11 teams are on track to win but lower down the school there is work to be done to catch up. Good luck girls and keep training!

Netball update

As always we attended the Saturday morning, Invitational Bacons College Netball Tournament again this year. Sadly the Year 9 tournament did not run as SSSO were one of just three teams who entered. However we entered a staggering six teams across KS3 & KS4! Year 7, Year 8 A&B and Year 10/11 A, B and C. All teams worked incredibly hard and played with valour and excellent sportsmanship and on the day our Year 8A team and our Year 10/11A team were victorious bringing home the shield and gold medals. Well done to all!

Sports Leaders

This year sixteen of our enthusiastic Year 10 students have taken on the challenge of becoming a Sports Leader. They are working hard with primary students at Grange Primary School to deliver safe, fun and well organised sessions. We wish them every success on the course and have confidence that all sixteen will pass with flying colours.

Sports Hall Athletics

Some of our Year 9 athletes took part in the annual pre-season inter-school Sports Hall Athletics competition which ran over three weeks this half term. Our girls worked very hard but finished in fourth place overall due to us having a slightly diminished team due to illness and absence. An excellent effort from all involved and a great warm up event for the summer season.
