Head Girl and the Prefect System

The Head Girl is elected in the summer term preceding her entry into Year 13.  Any Year 12 student may stand for the position.

Candidates should write a letter to the Headteacher setting out their reasons for applying for the position.  The Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form will consider the letters of application, before agreeing on which candidates should go forward for election.  Students with poor attendance and punctuality records may not be considered for the position.

The Head Girl will be elected by a vote of current sixth form students and staff who teach the sixth form.  We use the Alternative Vote system in order to elect the Head Girl.

After the election of the Head Girl, deputies (usually two) and other senior perfects are appointed by the Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form.
