GCSE Art and design

GCSE Art and Design (AQA) provides students with a firm grasp of traditional mediums and well established artists and movements, while also engaging with more contemporary Art practice. Students work to set briefs where they develop and refine their own ideas based on their own research, to produce units of coursework.

Students can choose to work in any medium, and we have seen everything from batique to video installation, painting to sculpture.

The course culminates in a 10 hour exam (spread over 2 days) where students complete a final piece to the best of their ability. Whilst this may sound daunting at first, every year we find that it is the best opportunity for students to show off the skills and talents they have been developing over the two year course.
