Computer Science and ICT*
Computer Science & Information communication Technology (ICT) forms part of the National Curriculum and is offered to all students in key stage 3 and as an option in key stages 4 & 5.
Computer Science & ICT plays a central role at St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School, with the Computer Science & ICT department having 3 specialist computer suites equipped with Windows 7 operating systems and Office 2010. These workstations are constantly updated with the latest software. Each suite has around 26 workstations. Each networked workstation enables students to access a full range of resources. In addition, the ICT department has access to a wide range of multimedia software and equipment for students to develop their computer science skills outlined in the curriculum (MIT App Inventor, Stencyl, Scratch, Kodu, Adobe Master Collection CS6, Serif Multimedia Suite, high definition video cameras, etc).
ICT is spread across the curriculum with many departments having access to additional ICT equipment and laptops. The school also provides all students in key stage 5 with a laptop for home and school use.
All of the Computer Science & ICT department’s resources are available to all students in and outside of school via the school Managed Learning Environment (MLE), Fronter.
