BIMA D Day

D-Day or Digital Day is a fun packed day for year 12 & 13 Computer Science & ICT students to get involvedwith the digital industry by:

·         Participating in D-Day challenges

·         Learn what the industry does through videos of top agencies

·         Find out about the careers and opportunities digital has to offer

·         Meet digital professionals through BIMA agency/school tie up

·         Win prizes should their entry to the BIMA competition be selected for shortlist

·         Win the top prize and become the BIMA School's Digital Champion.

Students must work in groups and choose from one of the following categories:

1. Digital Design

This is for students to think about a great digital idea that will aid their community. It can be based on a website, mobile application, iPad or a game.

2. Mobile Apps

This is a great category for those that spend their life on their mobile to come up ideas on the next big mobile (or iPad) app.

3. Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, FourSquare are part of our daily life. This challenge is how students would use them to promote a product, TV programme or sporting event etc. Students wishing to do this challenge will get an insight into how social campaign work is formulated. Students will then have to work out the best way to use social channels to maximise exposure for the programme.

4. Web development/coding

This challenge is for students who do have some coding ability. A coding framework is provided for students to program an application that is simple but limited in file size. So the challenge is to create the most innovative computer function - but keep it small!

5. Multimedia

This challenge is for students who fancy making a video, cartoon or animation. The use of video on the web for education, social comment and promotion is increasing. It's now come to mobile so this is an area of increasing demand for talent. The challenge will be to create a one-minute clip promoting an object or person in their classroom!
