Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin visits SSSO
At the start of Risk Week on Mon 3rd Feb, we were very privileged to welcome one of the most prominent female priests in the Church of England to our school, the Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin. Rev Rose is Chaplain to the Queen and Speaker of the House of Commons, and is vicar of two churches in Hackney.
Rev Rose led an extremely inspiring whole school assembly, in which she told us about the challenges she has faced in her life, and overcome. She told us about her humble upbringing in Montego Bay Jamaica, and her struggle to fit in with her family and at school. But through the support of her church community Rev Rose learned an essential lesson for life: that she, and every human being is made for greatness. Something which she encouraged us all to believe about ourselves! Rose also talked about the importance of finding an aim for our lives, and not letting anything distract us from it.
“She was really inspiring. I liked the idea of us choosing what we want to do in life and creating our own completely new path, so that we can leave a trail for someone else to follow.” Rebecca 10B
