Dr Bishop receives her CBE for Services to Education.

On Friday 2nd February, two of Southwark’s longest-serving Headteachers received their CBEs from HRH Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. Dr Irene Bishop, Head of St Saviour’s & St Olave’s in the New Kent Road, and Mrs Marion Gibbs, Head of James Allen’s Girls’ School in Dulwich, were named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to education, including their co-directorship of the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership.

The Partnership, established in 2003, brings together secondary schools in Southwark of all kinds to provide joint learning experiences and curricular enrichment for their students and for teachers to share professional expertise.

After the investiture ceremony, Dr Bishop, Head of our school for 19 years, and a teacher for 42, said: “I feel extremely proud to be awarded a CBE and see this as an honour for the whole school community to enjoy.”
