Black History Month

St Saviour's and St Olave's will be celebrating the fact that October is Black History Month. As a school, we take the view that black history is all of our history and is therefore important for SSSO not just during this month but throughout the year. We wish to celebrate all hidden histories, cultures or traditions. We are excited to be having a particular focus and a number of special events to celebrate Black History Month in the week beginning 12th October.

A representative from each form group was invited to a meeting to share ideas and be involved in some of the planning.

We have planned a wide range of extra-curricular activities which include: food tasting, speakers, assemblies, competitions, exhibitions in the tank room, storytelling and film showings. There are also many lessons focussed on BHM across the curriculum.

This would be a great opportunity for you to share with your daughter anything about your family history and encourage her to share it with us. Into the future if you have any suggestions for Black History Month contact us via the school office or get involved in the Parents' and Friends' Association.
